" In 2007, I hired Joe Karner to completely gut and remodel
my one-bedroom condo in Marina City. It turned out to be the
best decision I could have made. My vision called for nearly
everything “inside the paint” to be ripped out and
rebuilt from scratch including: the kitchen (new layout/all
new appliances), bathroom (completely reconfigured), new plumbing
system, new electrical wiring, all new floors, new A/C system,
new balcony doors and most of the internal walls. Joe provided
me with a written proposal that spelled out in great detail
the costs and timeline for completing this complex project.
To
say I was nervous about undertaking a project of this scale
would be an understatement (having heard horror stories about
contractors who fail to deliver on what they said they would
do coupled with “surprises” and goodness knows
what else could go wrong!). How did Joe Karner do on my condo
project? Joe Karner exceeded my expectations in every way
from day one. His proposal was "transparent" and
priced in a way that was easy to understand and very fair.
Throughout the entire three-month build-out project (during
which I moved out) I was able to meet with Joe whenever I
felt the need to do so. He returned phone calls promptly and
treated me with respect whenever I asked for more details
(which unfortunately for Joe was a lot!). He could not have
been more accommodating and professional is his manner and
demeanor. His honesty and straightforwardness greatly eased
whatever reservations I had going into the project.
Best
of all, he stayed within my budget, met his own self-imposed
deadline to the exact date he promised (literally!). As a
result of his exceptional construction and design skills and
expertise, Joe Karner created an incredibly beautiful new
home for me that I will treasure for years to come (not to
mention it improved the dollar value of the condo itself!).
I would not hesitate to recommend Joe Karner to anyone who
